Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Celestron SkyMaster 20x80 Binoculars

Customer Review: Great Binoculars
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a gret product, I just recomend a heavy tripod, it is because the binos are heavy to hold after a few minutes. The optical are very good, I was looking Jupiter and the 4 moons, It was very good choice.

Customer Review: Celestron 20 x 80 binoculars
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall good value but hard to focus. Great view of Jupiter and moons. Must have tripod for useful viewing. I mainly purchased this item for amateur astronomy. I think it is worth buying for the price.

Customer Review: nice deal
Summary: 4 Stars

Good optics, but the finish has to much plastic pieces that can brake, not very sturdy!!!
You need to be very careful, definitively not a gift for a kid.
It will not last a life long.

Customer Review: Confusing product information
Summary: 2 Stars

Read below - copied from the blurb above on these binoculars. These binoculars have a 4mm exit pupil

The exit pupil size -- the diameter of the objective lens divided by the magnification -- determines the amount of light available to your eye. The larger the exit pupil, the brighter the image obtained will be. A three-millimeter exit pupil is generally sufficient for daytime use, five-millimeters is suitable for daytime and twilight, and seven-millimeters is generally necessary for maximum nighttime or astronomy use.

Why do they say they're stargazing binoculars when they only have a 4mm exit pupil? They wrote just above that you need a 7mm exist pupil for astronmy.

Customer Review: buy something lighter
Summary: 1 Stars

Last year I bought celestron Noble 10 x 50 bins and was so and still am very pleased with five plus star rating.... got them on closeout at around $120 (list price around 300). Wanting to see better details in the night sky, and preferring portable and casual bins to a telescope, I had high expections because this skymaster has more than twice the light gather capability of my Noble. Bottom line, total disapointment as I could see nothing in the skymaster that I could not make out with my Nobles. These bins are HUGE (I knew that) and heavy and bulky and a pain to use compared to lighter bins. If you can afford it, you are much better off with a light, portable pair with higher quality glass and better coating.
