Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Celestron Accessory KitCustomer Review: Smokin' Deal Summary: 5 StarsI use this set with my Celestron 4SE and a Meade ETX-90 with no problems. The optics seem to be of pretty good quality and the EP construction is good. Just having the kit gave me an instant increase in versatility. It provides a beginner to intermediate astronomer a number of combinations of eyepieces and filters to experiment with. That and some good publications go a long way toward learning the sky. The case is compact and very handy. It also has room for a few extra items. Well worth what I paid for it and then some.
Customer Review: OK eyepieces that do not fit new Nexstar 4SE Summary: 2 StarsI recently bought a new Celestron Nexstar 4SE telescope and this eyepiece accessory kit. Much to my disappointment, the eyepieces in this kit did not fit very well into the eyepiece holder of the telescope, and when cold (nights in Colorado are 25-45F), the eyepieces did not fit at all.
Celestron customer service was horrible and did not pay attention to my problem and did not follow up by email as promised. When I called a second time, they had no clue about the construction of the eyepieces and no thoughts about how to fix this problem. Amazon replaced the kit (Thank you Amazon!), but the replacements did not fit either. I'm returning that kit too. I finally bought a kit from Meade (3 eyepieces and a moon filter) that fit properly and are very easy to use.
To be fair, if these eyepieces fit your telescope then they are a tremendous value (hence the rating of 2 stars rather than 1). The Meade kit is a worse value, but because they work in my nice new scope, they are the best for anyone using a Nexstar 4SE.
Customer Review: Great set Summary: 5 StarsAs luck would have it I have only got to use the set once. But wow great eye peices. If you're just getting in to star gazing great way to start
Customer Review: Great bargain! Summary: 5 StarsI'm not going to imply that these are the best eyepieces available but they are good eyepieces and they are incredibly affordable. They are essentially Celestron's "Omni" series Plossl eyepieces, which are their least expensive series and retail for $30 - $40 each. Just the eyepieces alone are worth the $100. The barlow lens is a quality piece but is fairly redundant with these eyepieces unless you have a very short focal ratio telescope. The color filters are a good all around set but they would only be useful for 8" and larger telescopes and then only for planetary viewing. I don't care for the moon filter. It is better than nothing, but I prefer using polarizing filter for the moon.
So buy it for the case and the eyepieces and if you get any use out of the rest that is just frosting on the cake!
Customer Review: Wide range, fair quality Summary: 3 StarsThese are a decent set of beginner 1.25" eyepieces, filters and barlow. It give you a wide spread of size (x power) and fair quality. Nice case and at an unbeatable price (I paid $99 with free shipping). Tom
